Skills Australia is an independent statutory body, providing advice to the Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations on Australia’s current, emerging and future workforce skills needs and workforce development needs.

Philip Bullock - Chair of Skills Australia
Message from the Chair of Skills Australia

Welcome to the Skills Australia website. As you may be aware, Skills Australia has been established by the Australian Government to provide expert and independent advice to the Minister on matters relating to Australia’s current, emerging and future workforce skills and workforce development needs.

Skills Australia comprises seven experts from a range of backgrounds including economics, industry, academia and education and training. Together we will be analysing existing information and identifying areas where more research may be required. We will also be talking to key individuals and organisations across Australia, synthesising their rich experience and ideas with our own to provide comprehensive, evidence based advice to the Minister.

We will be sharing our key findings and other information with you, the Australian public, through this website. Through our Links page we will be making current research and information on skills shortages more accessible.

Skills Australia is an important element of the Australian Government’s social and economic policy framework. By providing the Government with comprehensive, expert and independent advice we will ensure they have the information they need to address skills shortages and maintain and enhance Australia’s productivity and prosperity.

I am delighted to be chairing Skills Australia and I look forward to working with the many organisations actively responding to the skills challenges that lay before us.

Kind regards,

Philip Bullock
Chair
