  2. Skills Australia’s conference Using Skills Productively was held on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 September 2010 at The Hilton Hotel in Sydney.

    It was a highly informative event attended by over 300 enthusiastic delegates including industry leaders, business executives, professional associations, members of Industry Skills Councils and Advisory Boards, employers, education and training providers, HR professionals and representatives from government.

    The conference outcomes were:

    • Develop a shared agenda and recognition of the challenges and benefits of enhanced skills utilisation
    • Influence Government policy to achieve balance between skills supply and skills use
    • Enterprises better able to adopt longer term acquisition, development and utilisation strategies
    • Education/skills providers balance course delivery with partnering and skills development, responding to enterprise needs
