The Big Skills Conference - 2 to 5 March 2009

The Big Skills Conference was hosted by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations on behalf of the Australian Governement, and held in Sydney from 2 to 5 March 2009.

The Big Skills Conference is the first of its kind hosted on a federal level in recent years and had the support of many organisations and individuals in tertiary training and education.

Philip Bullock, Chair of Skills Australia, was invited to present at the conference.

There are expectations of worsening economic conditions in Australia and it is expected that the effects will be variable. Some regions, industries and groups of workers may be more adversely affected than others.
